Passport photo = visa photo? Unfortunately, not always!
According to the country of destination the demands for a visa photo differ slightly. Up to a few exceptions the same biometric regulations apply as they are also valid in Switzerland for all identity card documents.
Some countries require photos which must deviate minimally from the Swiss passport photograph regulations and, for example, have a blue or green background. Within the EU member states in general a light grey to white background is required.
The format for visa photos
In addition, two formats are common for the passport photo for visa:
- the European standard format with the sizes 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm and
- the US-american standard format 5 cm x 5 cm (or 2 x 2 inches).
