Outside of Switzerland – travel without a visa
All countries within Europe have abolished by the Schengen Agreement – to which also Switzerland belongs – personal controls on borders as much as possible. With some exceptions, sometimes even temporary entry to all member countries without passport or visa is possible
To the so called full user states belong:
Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Sweden, Slovakia, Spain, Czech Republic, Hungary.
In addition to Switzerland Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway as a non EU-members are also part of the Schengen agreement and thus enable you to travel without border control.
Because, nevertheless, also in the European foreign countries general personal controls can be carried out, it always recommended to carry a valid identity card document, such as the ID card, with himself.

When one does need a visa
For all countries outside the EU usually a visa is required for the entry. Size and terms of the required passport photos can vary depending on the country. The format of the visa photos which Swiss citizens need is mostly directed after the standard-passport photograph size of the country. In Russia, for example, pictures are used in the European format 3,5 × 4,5 cm. India and the USA require photos in the format 2 × 2 inch or ~ 5 × 5 cm.

How to get a visa or a visa in three easy steps
